Air China has launched a new Chengdu-Sydney service – the carrier’s first nonstop route linking a city in west China to Australia.

The new service provides more flexible travel options for travellers and will help promote trade and tourism between Australia and China's western regions.

Chengdu is China's famed "Land of Plenty" and is a popular destination for many Australian exporters.

To celebrate the launch Air China has introduced some special flight deals valid until the end of this year. A 12% discount on Business Class (round-trip) and an 8% discount on Economy Class (round-trip) are offered.

For the past year Air China has been expanding its global network from its hub in Beijing. And the airline is now stepping up efforts to build its regional hub in Chengdu, improving the regional networks of Chengdu and Chongqing.

Travel times

Through the Star Alliance network Air China can fly passengers to 1330 airports in 193 countries.

The Chengdu-Sydney service (CA429/30) will operate with a fleet of Airbus 330-200 three times a week.
